Why You Should Not Skip Post Workout Stretching

When it comes to working out, time is a central focus for the majority of us. We typically have a small window to get our workout in during our busy life and can sometimes ignore important aspects of lifting that help maximize our results. One important aspect is post workout stretching. We finish that last, toughest rep of the day…drop the weights…and go back to whatever chore or responsibility that awaits us. Cooling down after an intense lift session and incorporating post workout stretches are vital to getting the most out of our exercise and keeping our bodies safe.

Reasons for Post Workout Stretches:

  • Increase Muscle Growth
  • Improve Flexibility
  • Returns Heart Rate to Normal Levels
  • Promotes Healthy Blood Flow
  • Prevent Injury

Post workout stretching is oftentimes forgotten which can hinder our body’s ability to grow and increase muscle strength. Cool down stretching is incorporated into many of the Beachbody programs offered and can assist workout routines by placing it on our schedule for us. Using workout partner stretches can also aid in stretching muscles not as easily reached. If you are invested into reaching your full muscular strength potential, then making sure to cool down and stretch the muscles you use during workouts is just as important as the lift itself.
